Where did your foundation come from to start singing Gospel music?

Emily: Even though I was raised in a small farm-town in Idaho, I still listened to BeBe & CeCe Winans (thanks to my dad) and Kirk Franklin. I had always enjoyed Gospel music but it wasn't until about 4 years ago that it really hit home. I was watching the Stellar awards and Fred Hammond performed "I Will Find A Way" - That performance reached deep into my soul and stirred up a desire I had never felt before. I was in tears by the end of the song and I told God I just KNEW I had to be part of that type of worship, it was so freeing and so soulful. I started to surround myself with that style of music and well, here I am!

Industry Buzzz: Why did you decide it was time to share your gift with the world (Sunday's Best)? -

Emily: I knew from a very young age that God had something 'bigger' in store for me than whatever my current situation was. Although I never knew when or how it was all going to be revealed to me, I just knew. I write, play keys & guitar, as well as sing, so I knew that the gift of writing needed to be shared with the world. As for Sunday Best, I honestly didn't expect anything to happen beyond the first audition. I just wanted to go because I thought it would be a good experience to learn from and I was SO excited there was going to be a positive reality show on TV. (Finally, a show that would give glory and praise to Whom it's due) I had auditioned for American Idol before, which never worked out, so I had accepted the thought that TV was completely out of God's plans for me. Little did I know, it was just a matter of the type of show that God wanted me to be involved in. I was blown away when I got the callback. I really appreciate God's sense of humor and the fact that He likes to see us do fun things (for Him of course!).
