Gifts & Callings

For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. Rom.11:29

At present, the lines between living saved and not are blurred. "Those that can: do" has been taken to the extreme and individual's lives have been in some cases forever altered and even if just for the right now, they are falling woefully short of what GOD requires and desires for them. How can this be, especially in the church?

Let's break it down and make it plain...
There's a lot of talented individuals out there. Singers, dancers, writers, orators. Some professionally trained, some naturally gifted, or so it seems. All born with a divine purpose that may or may not be being followed, even though the gift is following them. You understand? Our scripture gives us to know something about GOD.

HE's not an 'Indian giver' as some used to say. GOD desires us to use what HE has given us(yes, GOD gave it)for HIS glory, which is why we're created, but even when and if we don't, GOD does not just take the gift away or remove the calling. Now, let's dig a little deeper into this.
There are individuals who believe that even though they don't operate under the salvation mantle or CHRISTian title, that they are fulfilling the purpose of GOD on their lives.

When GOD gave you your voice, it was not to sing about how sexy you or someone else is or about how you want to sin with someone you're not married to and give them babies or how they remind you of jeeps or comparing body parts to candy and fruit and making something that GOD himself would not listen to(note: Even individuals who try to sing "clean" or "positive" music find themselves in error because there is quite a difference between the world's definition of "clean" and GOD's definition of holy).

When GOD gave you a gift to speak, it was not to entertain individuals with profanity laced tirades and/or non-edifying rhetoric. Your gift and your calling are supposed to go hand in hand, but you can not believe that what you're doing simply because you can is in any way indicative of being within the will of GOD. Musicians play in the church and play in clubs all the time. The gift is there, but the calling isn't.

Your calling is still wrapped up in your being saved in spirit and in truth, not playing church. You see what you've done? You've separated something that GOD destined to be together. What GOD has joined together fill in the blank(Mk.10:9).

When you've allowed your gift and your calling to become separated and still want to claim CHRISTianity or salvation, then there are things that will not work for you. When you are lukewarm(Rev.3:16), you don't have any power. When you believe there are certain things that are ok with GOD that GOD hasn't told you HE's ok with, you can't work the WORD. I can't use 'no weapon'(Isa.54:17) when I'm not in right standing with GOD.

I can't use 'all things working together for my good'(Rom.8:28), because guess what the b part of that scripture says? To those who are the called according to HIS purpose. If I'm not working in GOD's purpose for me, thereby walking in my calling, then this scripture becomes null and void. It's not GOD's fault, but again as we've made mention of in times past, when we look for extra and look to go about things our way and not the LORD's, we're in essence saying that GOD is not enough; a dangerous stance, pronounced by our actions, against a GOD WHO's more than enough.

There's no blessing like the one that GOD can give you(Pro.10:22). That blessing, however, is not for us. What GOD has given us, even and especially salvation and the fruit thereof, is for other people. Your gift will never have the impact it could have when you've not coupled it with your calling. Your gift may still be working, but it's not prospering, as true prosperity(that which will accompany us on Judgment Day) is measured, because it's detached from it's purpose(your calling).

With all of the arguments about GOD not being fair, our text is a refreshing reminder that GOD does no repent when HE's given us something we are not using for HIM. HE does, however, give us room to repent when we recognize our error in so doing.

Gifts & Callings...

GOD bless...
