Verizon Wireless is challenging church choirs from coast to coast in the nationwide How Sweet the Sound Gospel choir competition. The competition is taking place in 11 major cities, with the winning choir receiving a cash prize up to $50,000 and the title of best church choir in America.
Expanding upon last year's successful event in Memphis, Verizon Wireless is bringing GRAMMY-winning songwriter, producer arranger and music director, Donald Lawrence to emcee at each of the 11 markets and the finale. Marvin Sapp, Hezekiah Walker and other gospel artists will join the competition as judges.
Doors open at 6:00pm. Show begins at 7:30pm
Verizon Wireless will host a number of pre-show activities, including:
Youth Choir Celebration - A local youth choir will perform before the start of the main event
Gospel Karaoke - Attendees have an opportunity to star in a performance video with New Direction Christian Church, the 2007 How Sweet the Sound Winner from Memphis, Tenn.
