“Image of a Man is really just an in depth look at what a man is and what a man is supposed to be,” says Marvin Winans Jr. of his forthcoming September 30th CD release, Image of a Man, on his own M2 Entertainment label.“ I think people are searching for who they are and what their purpose is in this life.” Instead of preaching to the choir, Winans is positioning this slick, Pop R&B-flavored CD towards a non-churched audience. He says, “I’ve got to share the message with those who don’t know.”
Winans , who now lives in Florida, will perform songs from the new project at a CD launch party at the Perfecting Church’s Winans Academy Gymnasium on Tuesday, September 30, 2008 @ 9:00 p.m. The catered affair will include a big screen premiere of Winans’ hot new music video “You Never Let Me Down”, an autograph signing, games and much more. The new CD will be available for the following prices: $15 (1 CD), $25 (for 2 CDs) or $30 (for 3 CDs). The venue is located at 7616 East Nevada, Detroit, MI 48234.
The son of gospel stars Marvin Winans Sr. and Vickie Winans, Winans got his start with the group Phase 2. Their first CD We Got Next debuted at #1 on Billboard’s gospel charts in 1999 and sold over 300,000 units. He founded M2 Entertainment in 2000 and has produced a number of artists, including his famous mom. Aside from his own production skills, the fourteen-song Image of a Man CD features production by Rodney Jerkins (Michael Jackson, Beyonce), Noel “Detail” Fisher (Akon, Ray J) and rising star producer, David Garcia. Jerkins produced the Caribbean-styled radio single “You Never Let Me Down.” Perfect for summer drives down the expressway with the rooftop down, Winans and Jerkins have crafted a feel good anthem. "It’s the joy you feel when you know that you have someone with you that will never fail you, never let you fall, never let you down,” says Winans.
