Bishop Paul S. Morton, Paul Porter, and Pastor Shirley Caesar
Receive Nods for 40th Dove Music Awards

Nashville, TN--Light Records is pleased to congratulate Bishop Paul S. Morton, Paul Porter, and Pastor Shirley Caesar as they received Dove Award nominations for Traditional Gospel Recorded Song and Traditional Gospel Album, which will be announced at the 40th Dove Awards on Thursday April 23, 2009 at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, TN and will broadcast live nationwide via Gospel Music Channel from 8 – 10 p.m. (ET/PT).

Paul Porter (of the Christianaires), Pastor Shirley Caesar, and Bishop Paul S. Morton received nods for Traditional Gospel Album, while Bishop Morton also carries a nomination for Traditional Gospel Recorded Song.

After 30 years Paul Porter’s solo debut, A NEW DAY, has earned him the coveted nod from the Gospel Music Association. The album offers a soulful blend of traditional quartet, church music, and some new school R&B inspired tracks. Sharing the same nomination, Gospel’s first lady, Pastor Shirley Caesar, receives a nod for her 2007 compilation AFTER 40 YEARS…STILL SWEEPING THROUGH THE CITY, which has garnered her national attention and assisted in the recent recognition from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame where she was named the first “Rock My Soul” honoree. As a follow-up to last year’s Dove nominated EMBRACING THE NEXT DIMENSION, Bishop Morton’s release of CRY YOUR LAST TEAR has maintained Billboard and R&R charting success.

Founded in 1964, the Gospel Music Association serves as the face and voice for the gospel/Christian music community and is dedicated to exposing, promoting and celebrating the gospel through music of all styles including pop, rock, praise & worship, black gospel, R&B, hip hop, southern gospel, country, and more.
