Obama's Offices of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives (VA & HUD) commit major funding to help urban churches and community organizations

The Center for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives (VA) collaborates with Urban Awareness USA, a nonprofit church growth and development firm to assist faith-based and community organizations with establishing government partnerships and access millions in grants, loans and subsidies intended to help urban communities overcome their major economic and social problems.

Portsmouth, VA (ChristianPRgroup.com) - VA and HUD Center of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives (FBCI) are investing significant resources into educating urban churches and other faith-based groups. The first of many education initiatives is scheduled to take place in New Orleans, Louisiana on May 27-28, 2009. Officials will be training a group of faith-based and community organizations on how to partner with government agencies and how to access funding for outreach ministries and programs. The Center of FBCI's comprehensive two-step plan is to first, assist churches and community organization by providing FREE live conferences that feature up to 30 of the nation's leading experts in the field of faith-based and community development. Second, the Center of FBCI has given consideration to an important, often overlooked, component, "what happens after participants leave the conference." With post conference success in mind, the Center of FBCI has arranged for participants to receive continuing educational and infrastructure development assistance to ensure participants can actually implement what they learned at the FREE conference.

Tracy J. Brown, chairman of Urban Awareness USA and author of "A Moses for Urban American: How the Faith- Based Initiative can work for you," has been consulted by the Center of FBCI to participate in the effort by providing post conference education and infrastructure development assistance to qualified faith-based organizations. In a recent interview, Mr. Brown said "The Center of FBCI should be commended for its efforts in the Urban Community. It's been clear for years that solutions for many of the problems plaguing Urban American can be found in churches and community groups. If properly equipped with educational resources, infrastructure development tools and funding, these organizations can make the greatest impact in our society. I'm impressed with the Center of FBCI's new approach because they clearly recognize that if we want to make real and lasting CHANGE in our nations communities we must first make a real and lasting COMMITMENT to helping our nation's faith-based and community organizations conduct their outreach work with excellence!"

To conveniently help churches and community organizations access the development program, officials have developed several websites.
