Chicago, Ill. - The Abraham Lincoln Centre (ALC) is proud to present its Annual Humanitarian Awards Dinner Friday, October 21, 2011 at the Fairmont Hotel (200 N. Columbus Drive- Chicago, Ill.) The 2011 Humanitarian Award will be presented to Golden Globe winning actress Regina Taylor with special mention to Oscar Award winning actress Jennifer Hudson. The Abraham Lincoln Centre has served Chicago’s south side communities for 106 years, providing much needed social services to more than 7,000 children and families a year at 13 program sites. The Abraham Lincoln Centre is headed by Zirl S. Smith, President and Chief Executive Officer.

A few of ALC’s flagship programs include helping at-risk children and youth gain the education and skills necessary to succeed in life, supportive housing and social services for people with disabilities, and support programs such as life skills initiatives for seniors and families.

ALC’s Awards Dinner is one of Chicago’s most historic dinners honoring esteemed individuals since 1959, the Abraham Lincoln Centre's Annual Humanitarian Award dinner honors individuals and organizations that impact the lives of children. Past and historic honorees have included (John and Eunice Johnson, Richard J. Daley and Gale Sayers, to name a few)

This year’s honorees will add to the esteemed roster of honorees. Regina Taylor, with an impressive body of work that encompasses film, television, theater and writing, Regina Taylor’s career continues to evolve with exciting and challenging projects. Taylor is best known to television audiences for her role as Lilly Harper in the series "I'll Fly Away." She is also an esteemed playwright, writing and producing well known plays as “Crowns” and her recent successful play at Goodman Theatre “Trinity River Plays”

Also receiving special recognition will be Chicago’s own Jennifer Hudson who partnered and provided toys for hundreds of youth in the ALC program with her foundation the Julian D. King Gift Foundation in 2010. Jennifer’s generosity provided well needed toys during Christmas for these deserving youth.

The event will be hosted by NBC legendary anchor Art Norman. Entertainment will be provided by R&B sensation and Chicago’s own, Terisa Griffin who will give a special LIVE performance.
